Greetings from the Sussex coast!
There may be just a couple of weeks left of the summer holidays, but Rye will be buzzing well into the autumn…
Here at Rye Lodge we’re thrilled to announce the opening of ‘The Deck’ – our gorgeous new terrace which will be open for the next six weeks. Here you’ll find a summer menu of snacks and small plates inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean and our favourite local producers. Our head barman will happily mix you a Margarita or pour you a glass of award-winning local bubbly whilst you watch the world go by.
The brilliant Rye International Jazz and Blues festival returns this bank holiday weekend, with “The Queen of British Soul” Beverley Knight headlining. It’s an annual highlight in the South East events calendar for music lovers, day trippers and long weekenders. If you haven’t yet got tickets there are lots of free events over the weekend. Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Danny Boland will be performing his own brand of blues, rock and country opposite Rye Lodge on Saturday afternoon. Take your place on The Deck and soak up the atmosphere!
September sees the return of the stupendous Rye Arts Festival (14th-28th). Opening with a concert by world-class violinist Tamsin Little, there are over sixty events over the fortnight including folk, classical and African music, literary talks, historical walks, theatre, comedy, fine art, ceramic and photographic exhibitions. You can download the full festival brochure here.
If you’re craving a little tranquility, we’d recommend a visit to Camber Sands at dawn. The vast beach is deserted at that time of day and there’s nothing like making the first footprints of the day in the sand dunes.
Check our availability here and come and make the most of the next six weeks and the Indian summer we’ve been promised!
With best wishes
