Greetings from East Sussex!
Here in Rye, we’ve been reveling in glorious sunshine and soaring temperatures for weeks. We’re very lucky to have several of the best beaches on the south coast on our doorstep and there is no better time for a refreshing dip in the sea. We recommend heading down to Pett Level which is less well-known and quieter at weekends. It is a pebble and sand beach with imposing cliffs at one end, and home to the odd fossil, so keep your eyes peeled! Alternatively, we are the only Hotel in Rye with a swimming pool (complimentary for all our guests staying with us), so the perfect way to cool down at the end of a busy day of sightseeing!
As of this week, we are serving afternoon tea on our sunny terrace or in our pretty lounge or dining room. Enjoy a pot of freshly-brewed tea, warm scones (served with clotted cream and local preserves), an assortment of finger sandwiches and a selection of cakes. Why not add a glass of champagne to make the occasion even more special? Our champagne afternoon tea includes a half bottle of champagne to share between two. You can add afternoon tea to your booking when you book online, or our friendly front desk team will be happy to book this for you.
Our friends at the Rye Jazz Festival have now added even more events to their programme over the August bank holiday. We can’t wait to see the legendary Joan Armatrading in the intimate setting of St Mary’s Church on Monday 27th. Here at Rye Lodge, we are thrilled to be hosting a “Latin Vibe Pop Up ” with the Women’s International Cigar Club during the afternoons of Sunday 26th and Monday 27th. Join us for an afternoon of Cuban and Latin music with world class musicians, cocktails, tutored cigar smoke, premium rum tastings and authentic food. See the Rye Jazz website for tickets and more information.
Enjoy the sunshine and until next month!
